The Needle Arts Guild of Historic Hudson Valley is dedicated to preserving and teaching the needle arts.  My mission is to find people who not only have interest in sewing as a craft, but individuals who also understand and appreciate the history and its evolution.  Sewing, naturally, started out as an absolute essential task – a daily necessity – but over time has become an astounding and wide ranging art form.  If you do not think of sewing as an art – it is because you have not done it.  Sewing is a very creative and expressive craft. Hand sewing and the basic essentials of machine sewing are in danger of becoming a lost art and I would like to encourage anyone who has an interest to revist or try it for the wonderful hobby that it is and continue doing it for the importance of keeping this skill alive as a gift to our children and grandchildren.

Check back for other workshops and our needle kits that will soon be offered at this site.  And come along when I attend the annual  Association of Living History, Farm and Agriculture Conference in Wild, Wonderful West Virgina this June!!  I’ll give you all the details.

Sewing for history,

The Nacient Needle
