Sewing for Period Costume and Living History

I have visited the web site of “ladies of refined taste”: http://www.ladiesofrefinedtaste.org/

and find it quite helpful in giving me ideas for my Betsy Ross interpretation and to formulate and create a living history event for my local DAR chapter here in Beacon, NY.  The ladies of DAR were very interested in my idea to offer a ladies tea/embroidery workshop at the Madame Brett Homestead.  After meeting and speaking with them however, I am imagining a much more elaborate event that will really bring the Madame Brett Homestead alive!!  Not only will the “tea” offer discussion and lecture on the history and evolution of sewing and embroidery work, but in various rooms in the homestead I would like to create a setting with period costumed interpreters going about their business in 1780s.  I hope the ladies of DAR like the idea and we are able to arrange an October event.
