Quilting – in the Hudson Valley and Beyond

This is really wonderful quilting!  It really speaks to the primal need to record events – the need to have tangible items to reinforce collective memory – I had never made the connection between quilts and tapestries before as quilting has (in the U.S. at least) evolved into a craft for the craft’s sake which does not really interest me.  However, by focusing on how and why quilting began you can see that there was meant to be meaning – tangible memories infused  into everyday and necessary items.  This has given me a new respect and interest in this aspect of the Needle Arts.  A quilt would not have meaning for me unless it is made out of or representative of memories.  Must revisit Georgia Bonesteel…
