Beans the Beacon Groundhog, who lives under the wall at the end of Fulton Avenue behind the Madame Brett Homestead, emerged from his burrow this morning promptly at 7:05am. He looked up at the gray and yellow sunrise, twitched his nose at his shadow and went back under to sleep a little longer. We believe this means the mild winter will abate and we are headed for blizzard snows in Feb and March. Since this is our first recorded observation of the fellow there is no telling whether he is right or wrong. No matter what the weather, Spring will arrive in the Northern Hemisphere on March 20, 2012, at 1:14 A.M.
You will still need your quilt on the bed a bit longer – what? you don’t have a quilt? If you’d like to learn how to make one – for yourself or perhaps as a gift for a Spring Bridal Shower gift – sign up for Thursday morning Quilting Classes that will start on Feb 19th.
Classes run for 6 weeks – Registration is $175
